Quality Improvement - Tips to Remember for the COA Visit

September 13, 2018

As we enter the final weeks before the Council on Accreditation (COA) site visit to Four Oaks, Family Resources, and the Jane Boyd Community House, it’s important for every member of our team to share how we improve quality the of our services. Whether you work with kids in residential or in our community based programming, quality applies to you!

The Four Oaks enterprise believes in quality! Challenge yourself to change and improve habits to assure the children and families we serve are successful. Let’s review how we continuously try to enhance our Quality Improvement.

Plan
Do
Study
Act

The PDSA (Plan, Do, Study, Act) model guides us through our constant quality checks to make sure our recipe is just right for serving kids and families.

Through the use of PDSA, Four Oaks has been able to consistently improve our services. Check out the things we have done!

We Engage families early. We start planning aftercare right away. This helps all members of the child’s team stay on the same page throughout treatment.

We have implemented Trauma Informed Care at every level of the Four Oaks Enterprise. We train and apply those skills in client care and staff interactions. This includes doing “PIES” or “Community Check-ins”  at all agency meetings.

We have Safety meetings to ensure we are helping the kids that are struggling on their paths to success. At the same time we work to ensure our team members are safe in their work environments.

We Value Training. In fact, the vast majority of our staff completes their training on time. Staff training is facilitated through Relias, which is accessed by clicking on the “Employee Learning” link on the Employee Portal.

We have Quality Service Teams in many of our programs. These teams ensure the PDSA model is consistently being utilized to assure children become successful adults.

As a reminder: COA will be visiting us Oct 1-3. As we enter the final weeks before the site visit, it’s important for every member of our team to demonstrate our mission; to assure children become successful adults. "Bee" watching your inbox each Thursday until the COA visit for important updates and information you will need to prepare for this visit!

Remember, the team from COA is here to assure we are living our mission and serving our kids. We have a lot to be proud of at Four Oaks, Family Resources, and Jane Boyd. This is your time to shine! Share your passion for the work you do each day by demonstrating our recipes for success with our visitors in everything you do to assure children become successful adults.
